Breast and Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS)

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS) program provides funding to clinics across the state that give high-quality and accessible breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to women. Eligible clients receive these services free of charge. Regular screening tests can find precancerous tissue or cancer early, when treatment is likely to work best.

Client Eligibility

You may qualify for BCCS if you:

• Live in Texas;
• are a woman 18 or older;
• don’t have health insurance or are underinsured;
• have a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.

You may qualify for MBCC if you meet all the following criteria:

• Have been diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer;
• need treatment for breast or cervical cancer;
• live in Texas;
• are a U.S. citizen or eligible immigrant;
• are between 18 and 64 years old;
• don’t have health insurance;
• have a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level

Project VALET 

(Providing Valuable Area Life-Saving Exams in Town) is a mammography education and screening program for asymptomatic women ages 40 to 74, who are uninsured, without county assistance and who are patients in participating clinics.

Project VALET (PV) addresses barriers of cost and transportation by bringing free mobile mammography to the communities where eligible women reside.

Project VALET also provides women with necessary follow-up diagnostic testing if needed, made possible through partnerships with participating facilities.

Steps to get a screening mammogram

1. To participate in this program, schedule an appointment with a participating clinic. You’ll find a list of clinics below.
2. Receive breast health education, at one of the participating clinics to learn what to expect at a mammogram and the importance of early detection for breast cancer. 
3. Call and schedule the screening mammogram.

Should diagnostic test(s) be required, patients will be referred to a participating organization that provides services to low-income and uninsured women. Diagnostic exams are paid through Project VALET for women who received a screening mammogram through this program. (713) 745-8850

For women without insurance, we offer the option of a cash payment. We also have knowledgeable staff who assist uninsured women in determining if they qualify for financial assistance. To facilitate the process, the uninsured woman needs to bring:
